    Default Thanks to KYDNR

This year, I got my trout stamp for the 1st time. Went to a local FIN lake, about 2 miles from my home here in Georgetown. I know these small lakes are put and take, because when it gets warm they (the trout)are pretty much toast in these shallow ponds. Caught my '5' limit and enjoyed them. Just good that you have another option for fishing and catching something during the cold months. I know the DNR puts a lot of effort into stocking these FIN lakes. Much appreciated!

That's all done by the KDFWR ... and yes indeed, much appreciated !! I've even fished for and caught some of those stocked Rainbow Trout in the Jacobson Park lake, here in LEX., that's a FIN's lake. Caught a few tagged ones & got the pewter pins for turning the tags in, but never won any $$ in the drawings

They also stock Channel Catfish & Hybrid Bluegill .... but, so far they've eluded me

Another benefit of them stocking trout in the FINS lakes is that in May when the water gets a little warm the trout slow down a lot and become Bass food. A kid fishing with night-crawlers took an 8½ pound largemouth out of the pond in Mike Miller Park in Draffenville last fall.

You're right, Clint !! And they also dump a bunch of those trout into Cedar Creek Lake.
