Went out today from about 1:00 to 7:30. Havent been crappie fishing or on cumberland in some time. Was lower than i expected. Never have really done very well this time of the year but after i found the right depth and one real good spot, i ended up catching several. Probably had about 40 with 12 being keepers. What i caught was deeper than i expected ad well. Most cane from 30' of water. Caught a few on jigs but most came on minnows. Fun day. Did catch a nice smallmouth which was fun on the crappie rod.

Nice mess of fish
Well, typical for cumberland it was a one shot wonder.
I've been 3 time since and 15-20 shorts are the norm.
Tried 8 similar areas (structure and depth) and the original 2 spots are the only ones that produce
Very frustrating, but that's why I love em
Yeah, should have read your report before I went as i may have tried hugging the bottom earlier than i did but it was a spur of the moment trip but that was exactly what I found as well.
I hit a couple of almost carbon copy areas as far as depth and structure goes to that one magic tree and nothing. Catch 20 out of one tree and hit 2 more within 200 yrds that are just like it with nothing or maybe one short. I did go back to that one spot a couple times in the day and i must have fished it dry because i only caught one more out of it. The spot i finished on i would really like to go back and hit again. I hit it late in the day and was marking seemingly dozens of fish on it. I'm sure they weren't all crappie, but i caught 4 pretty quick including my biggest and then it just shut down as the sun was going down. If i'm lucky, i'll get back out on Saturday but too early to tell yet.
