Way to go nice start!
Caught 6 crappie, 2 keepers. Along with them, caught 1 catfish, some white/yellow bass, and a couple of largemouth bass. Blood river area. Had a battery go down on my 36v system so cut our trip short. Getting better but just have to get all the hiccups out. Fish were 13.5 and 14.5 inches.

Nice fish! Keep at it, almost ten years of cranking and I'm still getting the hiccups out.

I've been trolling cranks for all kinds of species for 40+ years and hiccups are just part of each of our fishing careers. Looks like you have a nice start.

Hey guys, is there a water depth that I should concentrate on initially to find fish faster in the summer? 12 feet or 20+?

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Col 3:1
Yes. The only depth you need to concentrate on is the one where the baitballs are located. Run your cranks in the top 1/3 to 1/2 of the depth the baitballs are at. If the sonar says the baitballs are 12-16 feet, you need to run your cranks 12-14 feet deep. Sometimes that means letting out less line or going from a 300 to a 200 or shallower running bait. The mistake most every beginning crank fishermen makes is thinking the deepest they can make a crank run the better. Fishing under the crappie will get you headed home empty handed. Lots of times the bait and the crappie will be MUCH shallower than you would ever imagine. They may be shallow over DEEP water. Trust your electronics. Get the Precision Trolling Data app for your phone. Best $60 you will spend on cranking gear.
