Default Dry Docked Until Further Notice

Unfortunately my crappie rig will need repairs as soon as possible. Noticed this morning that there are 2 exterior cracks in the transom wash well of my 21ft Nitro. I loaded it back up, never got to fish, and headed home. At that time, I did feel the interior side of the wash well, and it appears to have no damage. Then littlemama got to looking, and my jackplate has cracked the fiberglass at both lower corners on the exterior. No other visual damage has been noticed, nor can you feel any dips, bumps or cracks on the exterior side of the transom. The bright side is nobody got hurt, nor did I loose my motor.
If anyone can recommend a good repair shop, I am in need. Located in western Kentucky.
    Thanks,
    Brian

Absolutely hate to hear your bad news Brian.About all I can offer for help is a couple ideas.First would be to give your insurance man a call to find out if it is covered. It very well may me.Next would be a call to the manufacturer to see if they can help you replace or repair it.If they cannot help you possibly they can suggest a repair facility.
I appreciate the fact that you realize this could have been much worse....I hope you can get it repaired/replaced in a timely fashion.Good Luck....

    1995 hull.
As I told littlemama, I could had been hurt or had an even larger and much more expensive repairs if my Mercury 225hp optimax had broke off and sunk into the clear Ky Lake waters.

Reb, I will have to take some photos either Sunday evening or Monday, we escaped to the camper for the weekend.

Brian, have you tried to raise the motor up about 1/3 tilt and try to see if there is any flex in the transom? If the transom doesn't move when you try to push down HARD or pull up, I think you are just looking at a gel coat issue. Check with Rodney Hairgrove (270-559-2420). He does a lot of rebuilds on hull damage and might be able to help you out.

Spot on, I can tell you from past experience loosing a transom while under power is not a good thing. You done the right thing by not going out, get her seen about, hopefully its just gel coat issue.

Doug, I will try that this afternoon. I had noticed when trimming it yesterday that the cracks would flex, but did not notice or look if the vertical portion of the transom was flexing. I will report back this evening.

Had a relaxing weekend at the camper, but it sure does suck without my boat....
She was on my mind the entire weekend!
Got home and took a few pictures and did a little more inquiring as I was instructed. Did the flex test on the transom and it appears to my untrained eye that it's good. The Gel coat in the wash would flex open and close when hitting the trim button.
Also took a couple of pictures of the lower corners of my jackplate that appear to have damaged the outer layer of the gel coat and surface.
I will be making phone calls first thing in the morning, and hope to have it dropped off with someone for repairs.
