    Default Blue gold

Fished for gills yesterday. Must have been a lot of people fishing for em lately, cause they were out of crickets at The Landing and at J&L bait shops. Used 1/32 & 1/64 oz hair jigs tipped with a chunk of crawler. Fished 2-3 ft under a float. Did the trick. They would hit it on the fall. Water temps 77-79.5. Filleted most for the wife & kids, fried a few whole for myself.

OK "a few whole for myself" (I think 10 qualifies as more than a "few" )

    Congrats on gettin amongst'em & workin'em over !!

Slabseeker, just one dink crappie. Didn't fish for em, but just a few minutes.

Pappy, I was hongry... Do have a question for you, about thermocline- looked like a thermocline was starting to set up around 18-20 ft deep on my sonar. Water temp was almost 80. Will thermocline start to form this early? Was on Barren.

When did Ranger Bob's become the Landing? I didn't think I had been away from fishing for long, but I guess things change.

WOW! You are right! My very best fishin buddy passed away about 3 years ago but he got down and couldn't go fishing for a long time before that, so I kind of got away from it. I traded my motorcycle for a boat last fall and have been upgrading it and re-learning to fish. Time marches on. Got the boat in good shape and almost all my fishing "stuff" organized again.

I'll need to start clean mine out. Dr said I can fish now but not drive. Get this Memorial Day crowd behind us and give it a try.

They very well can set up this early IMHO. In fact ... the COE doesn't start posting water temps & dissolved oxygen @ depth until a thermocline does start setting up ... so I went and looked, and lo and behold they started on 5/16 (according to this : COE link. )

Now, these numbers are taken at the dam .... but the sheer fact that they're even posting them shows that the thermoclines ARE setting up in our lakes.
