I've always heard that if the cows are up feeding = so will the fish ...

Had a chance to fish Barren yesterday with a friend who'd come up from Westmorland, Tn.
We'd made plans and talked about it for sometime and as the day grew closer, it seemed things were coming together, weather, water clarity, the timing was right. My buddy stopped at the local bait shop, got four dozen minnows and met me at he ramp and we were fishing by 8:15. We spider rigged the channel edge for maybe 200 yards until we ran out of bait. By 1:00 we were in the parking lot dividing our 32 crappie, shaking hands and took a few pics for my buddy to send to friends in Ohio. As we drove off I was trying to come up with a reason for such good day. On the drive in to the state ramp that morning I remember counting seven deer and the squirrels were running everywhere. Have you ever noticed the times when you see a lot of wildlife on your trip to the lake, your fishing that day just seems like a dream come true? When we were in the parking lot and about to leave, my buddy jokingly called me the crappie whisperer but I remember other trips to the like with the same results. What's your thoughts?

If the moon's out in the daytime sky, we've normally caught fish. Was the moon out?
Moonrise has been during the day.
We've had times where we get to our spots and the water is alive with activity. Bass are hitting top water. Carp are rolling. Hybrids are chasing baitfish to the surface...........and we can't keep the crappie off our hooks spider rigging right in the middle of all the other action. Catch two at a time even, and end up with limits in a matter of an hour.
Special times.
When weather and moon phases line up, particularly weather, it becomes a special time to be on the water.

I saw deer and turkeys out in the open fields well up into the morning around 9:00 on Saturday as well.
I think the relatively stable weather and the sunshine had more to do with your success though.
Was planning on hitting the river for sauger/walleye/crappie/catfish trip this coming saturday but the rain is coming down by the bucketful right now. I suspect that will bring it back up and get it chocolatey.

Some what related. Anyone else notice a large number of skunks as road kill recently. Drove to Barkley last week and there must have been at least twenty of them along the road.
Maybe their being active tied into whatever you're speaking of.
