I'm the creel check agent on Barren River Lake for the next few months and I worked the lower end this past Monday. I was surveying a fella that had marked a group of stumps on a channel and without skipping a beat, he reaches behind his seat and pulls out these long reach tongs, reaches over and picks up his marker! I was stunned and thought, what an idea. Hope you can use this.Name: grab tool.jpg

I have something similar I use to catch cottonmouths around my shop and relocate them. If I put it in my boat it would get lost for the next decade. Good idea anyway.

He is using it to grab his marker from the water or grab his marker from where he has it stashed in his boat? I use the gps to mark whatever anymore. Before that I was using the smallest buoy I could find to keep the spot poachers from horning in on me. Not that I have very secret or good spots.

Slab did you figure out if the fish moved back out into deeper water from pulling the lake or did they go ahead and move shallow with the warmer water temps?

When I pulled up, he had the marker in the water. He had the "H" shaped marker and had used the tongs to pick it up. He had painted his marker black.

I actually fished today, 3/10, found 57 degree water in a 12' channel and caught them from 10-7'. Kept 9, thru back a lot of keepers with 3 dinks. No real monsters but the ones I kept were nice.Name: FullSizeRender (5).jpg

I dipped my marker buoys in black liquid tape ...

Black is easier for me to see at a distance than any of the neon color marker buoys ...
