Default first time to Cumberland Lake

I am heading down to Cumberland Lake for a Labor Day getaway with my girlfriend. I want to do some crappie fishing. We are staying at Cumberland Lake State Resort Park. Can anyone tell me some good areas at that end of the lake that migh produce some fish and a good technique to try for them? I have never been on a lake like this and any guidance would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Look for stripers in the jumps. Caught some 30 & 40 pounders on topwater chugbug. They fish a lot at night there with lights for crappie. The state dock is a good source of info. kyfisherman may chime in. That is a big deep lake and is hard for me to figure out the crappie there. I fish the tail waters below Wolf Creek Dam and have caught a lot of trout there. Good and cold in the summer and one of Kentucky's best kept secrets.

Can't help you much on that end of the lake. I caught 18 crappie night before last fishing under a "green" light near one of the docks on my end of the lake. They were all 22 ft deep. Caught them on minnows. A friend told me he caught several yesterday morning using a silver jigging spoon over deep brush ...and I mean deep. He caught the fish at 35 ft. They Corps is pulling the lake down now, falling steadily. Don't know if the falling water is causing the crappie to go deeper, or maybe the preferred oxygen level in the lake is moving deeper or what. But I do know you will need to look "deep" for the fish.
