I have never caught them in the fall. Pay close attention to when they start pulling the lake. It will dictate what you will be fishing.

What end of the lake do you plan on fishing?

what month are you going ?
For me Nov. is best, Sep worst and Oct pretty much in between. I don't fish Barren much , that is based on Green and Nolin which are close by.

Barren will be well on the way down to winter pool in October. Very little standing timber in Barren. I would try tree tops on bluffs. They are easy to find and fish.

But like I said I don't do much crappie fishing in the fall. In spring i fish on brush piles of my own making. It is easy to mark brush and stumps on Barren in winter when the lake is down. Just walk right up to them and hit the button on the gps.

If you will get in touch when you are headed this way I will do what I can to help you with were the fish are hanging out. Fall is a great bite on barren. Will take you out and show you some of the spots that are successful in the fall if you want. Same offer stands for anyone headed down new to the lake.

I have been wanting to learn how to fish at night for crappie and Barren is just an 11/2 hour drive.
