    Default Best KY Lake Food

My dad & I are heading down to Kentucky Lake from Iowa the first time for his 57th birthday the week of April 10th and will be staying at Paradise Resort. My question is where are the best places to get some of that good Southern home cooking around the lake.

Also, if anyone else from the site will be at Paradise Resort the same week let me know and maybe we can get together to BS for awhile & swap some fishing info.

    Thanks,

My dad and I are also going down to KY lake on the 10th. We are not staying at a resort just the Holiday Inn express I couldn't get in at any of the resorts. This is our first time down as well. We are fishing with a guide for a few days to try to learn the lake for our next trip down.
    Good Luck!

74redone, Yeah I knew if we waited too long there wouldn't be anything available so I booked over a month back. Hope it's what they advertise........
We don't have a guide booked, but do have a friend in Hopkinsville willing to help us out for a few days. It will be a good time whether we catch a bunch of fish or not.
Good luck to you and your dad as well!

I agree. Everybody ought to try Patti's at Grand Rivers, KY at least once in their lifetime. The food, the atmosphere, the staff...are all great. Some other good restaurants for "country cookin" are Majestic in Draffenville, Lacy's at Benton and the Dinner Bell restaurant just up Hwy 68 toward Aurora at Jonathan Creek. Speaking of Aurora, there's the Willow Pond catfish restaurant...and the Brass Lantern, and the Aurora Bar-B-Que....all good places. At Murray there are several good restaurants of all kinds, but a few that have country cooking are Tom's Restaurant and Martha's Restaurant, two places on HWY 641 toward Benton, and the Sirloin Stockade (also on 641 going through Murray toward Paris. THere are many other good places, and folks around the lake will be happy to give you directions to their favorites. Hope this helps.

I would have to put another vote in for Patti's. The kids love the atmosphere and if your wives are coming they will love the shops. I would say a reservation would be a must also. I would also highly recommend about anything at Fast Eddies on Hwy 68. It is a local bait store with a resturant attached that has a killer breakfast sandwich. They also have great burgers and pizza. (little hint) If you call ahead (10 Minutes) they will have your order ready to go either on the way to the lake in the morning or on your way home in the evening. I know you said country dining but I wouldn't hesitate to try some of the BEST authentic Italian dining around at Mama D's on Hwy 62 in Calvert City close to KY. Dam. It is one of those hole in the wall places with one thing on their mind great food.

I like the seafood buffet at Lacey's in Benton, but they only have it on Fri. and Sat. nights. I went there a couple of weeks ago on a Friday night with some friends and they were closed. Does anyone know if this is a one time thing or have they stopped doing the seafood buffet, Thanks for any info. I agree with everyone else that Patti's is a good choice although they are a little pricey in my opinion.Majestic also has a pretty good seafood buffet on Friday nights and are reasonably priced.

Patti's Settlement, hands down best 2" pork chop anywhere. I would make reservations though, wait can be long.

Patti's no doubt, ate there last trip and man it's to die for. I thought a pork chop won't fill me up, (I'm a good size boy), but it did and then some. hhhmmmm, pork chop, loaded potato, ice tea, good stuff!
