Nope. I sat in it and rocked around to see if it was going to tip and it was as stable as could be.

It came from Grizzly Jig. GRIZCO SEAT STAND

    Wink For more security .....

Quacker .... if your seat receiver is around 5" back from your pedestal hole, when you're sitting in it & fishing ... you might consider looking at one of these : Springfield Marine Kingpin Offset Removable Pedestal Posts

It might afford you a little more piece of mind, knowing that your seat is anchored to your boat, at all times (fishing, running, waves/choppy water conditions, etc)

I'm assuming that your pics are simply for demonstration ... and the seat isn't placed in the position it will be when you're actually using it/fishing from it. Those back legs look precariously perched very close to the edge of the deck drop .... wouldn't take much of a skootch to send you (both), seat & all, backwards into the floor Doh

I use one of those offset pedestal posts, when fishing out of my partners Tracker TX17. It allows me 5" more leg room, to operate the TM pedal while seated (I'm 6' 1" & the boat seems to have been made for a 5' 6" feller :p )

Unfortunately, that is exactly where it will be sitting while fishing. My boat has a spray liner with a rubber texture and the seat base has rubber feet so it is harder to make skootch than one would imagine. I checked that out as well.

My bow tapers to a point so quickly that it doesn't really afford you a lot of room for a spider rigging setup. I just have to make do with the way that it is but there is a gun/rod box that you can't really see on the port side that is the same level as the deck. If it were to move, at least on the left side it wouldn't fall off of anything.

This thing should be a lot safer than the 2 camp chairs that we have been using for the last 3 years with their legs in the same position. :D

I have looked at those offset posts just to use when not spider rigging but I can't make myself spend that kind of $ on something as simple as a seat post. The offest to the double seat rig needs to be more like 10 to 12 inches to afford the leg room needed. I'm 6'5" so I take up a little more room in that respect.

ETA: After looking at the reviews on that link, I'm glad that I haven't pulled the trigger on one yet. Looks like they don't last long for heavier people. I'm right at 250 lbs.

Pappy's got a good point. I bet I know a guy that owns a machine shop that could build you an offset. All you'd need is a piece of pipe welded to a plate with a pin to go in the receiver. Wouldn't take much.

Sure would be a lot safer. I'd hate to see a buddy that I ain't even met yet, go in the lake. :D

Sorry Cajun Fryer. Not try'n to volunteer you for any thing. But I've seen your work.

Ya'll are trying to talk me into using my newfound crappie nibble jar holder for some safety device.. :D

That's not a bad idea. Cajun, if you read this.. shoot me a PM on a price to whip me something up, if you don't mind. Figure 12" center to center and a pipe that's 12" long, for rough estimates.

I have the same concerns some of the other fellas expressed. Please move the seat base forward, I would hate to see anyone take a tumble backwards if the leg scooted off the deck.

Not happening, folks. It is what it is and there's no changing it. You can't fit two six and a half foot guys side by side on the deck any other way.

Like I said, I have been using bag chairs before this and everything has been fine.

I do appreciate the concern, though.

There is normally a deck height cooler sitting on the starboard side as well if that alleviates any fears.

Talking You just need a bigger boat

    :D ... yeah, yeah, I know ... that ain't happenin' either :p

OK ... then, how about this : consider running some straps from the rod holder plates to the front chair legs
That should keep the chair from skootching, whether sitting in it or running down the lake. But, then that brings up a whole other "situation" Doh ... how well can you see out in front of you, when driving the boat, if the seat setup is still on the front deck ?? Or, do you dismantle it between runs ??

Maybe, in the event that (for whatever reason) you can't get an offset pole to work ... you could rig something for the chair legs, like you have for your rod holders ? Even a nylon strap, attached to the center of the chair frame & bolted to the front deck lid, would offer a little more anti-skootching protection.

Other than extending the deck, or the offset pole working, these are about all I can come up with.

You defenitely need to anchor it somehow......I would hate to see someone get little excited hauling fish in and accidentally bump it, then when you sit down it falls & throws you into the bottom of the boat. I am thinking something along the line of how your rod holders are fastened to the side rail that could be bolted and removed quickly. Just a quick thought ole buddy.
