    Default Sugar Bay (Easter Weekend)

Went down to Ky Lake this past weekend on my annual camping trip. We went a bit earlier than usual with crappie fishing in mind. I never threw a jig or minnow in the water

Guys were catching crappie. They were spotty but they were being caught in 15 feet of water off points while fishing 8-10 feet deep. We didn't hear of any limits but guys were catching 10-12 fish each day....nice slabs also.

The bass fishing, on the other hand........WOW! We caught fish all day long in 8-10 feet of water in submerged timber on Senkos! Then from 4PM until dark the backs of coves were holding stacks of fish. I have seriously never seen anything like it. We had pick ups on nearly every cast.

I'm coming back down this week to hopefully find the paper mouths hugging the shores.

Every fish was a largemouth...we caught well over 100 fish in 3 days of fishing and I'd say it was a 50/50 split between males and females. One out of every 4 or 5 we caught was over 15". We didn't even catch a spotted the entire time.

I agree, the crappie would have been more fun but the bass were there so that's what we chose to do.

thanks for the info. I go to BIG BEAR RESORT on sunday for the whole week. We caught so many striped bass last year. all 8-10 inches so it was frustrating to say the least when we went for crappie. Lil bait-stealers. any tips for big bear area would be appreciated!
