Default Good Lord put me in my place on Saturday

    Well guys,

Saturday morning got to the boat ramp at Jonathan Creek in line unhooking straps from boat and a guy from Indiana drove past all of us, we were next to go and got into position to unload and the guy from Indiana was setting on the ramp unhooking straps, motor toter, and had all 4 doors on pickup open getting stuff out to put into his boat and did I say he was from Indiana. I proceded to get upset and mouthing to my dad about how rude this was when the parking lot was full of people. Finally its my turn to put my boat in and my motor would only turn over as if the kill switch had been pulled. Been working fine for past several weeks. Pulled boat out of water ended up going to local mechanic and it started right up. Some little freaky thing happened and couldn't be reproduced. Needless to say I ended up loosing about 3 hrs. of fishing and my day was pretty well down the toilet. Guess from now on I just need to smile and keep my BIG mouth shut.

    Nah.

If the Lord looked down on those kinds of things, he would have sunk my boat by now. He also never puts more on us than we can handle... so watch for bridge closures at Paducah, Louisville and Wickliffe. :D

That guy from IN probably did something to your motor when you weren't looking.

We fished for 4 hours Saturday afternoon and never caught the first crappie.

Give me a shout if you are flying solo one day in the next couple of weeks.

    F-n-f,
As a Hoosier, I can tell you that we are not a breeding ground for disrepectful sportmen's and this is not the norm in our state... idiots come from ALL states, and I can tell you countless stories of Kentucky and Tennessee fisherman being disrespectful, as I fish Kentucky Lake every year. I know your PO'd and you have every right, and I would be lieing if I didn't do or say the same things about out of staters on Indiana waters, but I have also met some great "out of state" folks that I would welcome in my boat anyday of the week, and have come to learn that "stupid" is everywhere, so to sterotype a given state wouldn't be an accurate assumption. Sorry you had a bad encounter with an Indiana idiot, and I apologize on his behalf, but I would reassess your thought process before making the same mistake again.

    Hi Fin,

I went through the same thing fin. Same ramp as well. I was in line a few years back and couldn't understand what was taking so long. Me and another guy walked down to the ramp and there was two boats from Ohio parked on the ramp loading their gear. It took me 45 minutes to get in the water!

This was back when the old dock was on the left side of the ramp. I fished a few hours and come back in. They had their boats tied to the dock and they were up having a picnic. I had to try and trow a line onto the rocks and step off on the wet rocks. I slipped and fell abck into the lake. I was NOT a happy camper! So it could have been worse.

With that said I guide as well. I have lived in Indiana as well as Kentucky. And let me tell you there are jerks everywhere. I guide people from Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee and Kentucky all the time. And they are almost all really great guys. I have had locals pull some real good stunts up to running me off the road while coming back from a bass tournament on Barkley. I was laid up for 2 months after that one!

Get out there and start catching them and you will forget all the other stuff!

    Good Luck!

There were a couple of OOS guys that evidently didn't want to brave the high winds Saturday but didn't want the weather to spoil their fishing vacation, either.

They carried all of their gear down (with chairs) onto the courtesy dock at Wildcat Creek (those familiar will know how small it is) and set up camp, then started catfishing... casting their baits literally onto the ramp. Keep in mind how windy it was on Saturday and the volume of boats coming and going at the ramp while trying to avoid banging into the dock. I'm surprised that I didn't wind up with an axle full of fishing line with a big gob of crawlers on the end of it.

God love 'em. Takes all kinds to make the world go 'round, I suppose.

I used to think that too, now I'd just like to see how it would go for a little while without them:rolleyes:

Take a deep breath and admire the beauty of the morning. These jerks are the ones who use handicap stickers (no obvious handicap), pull into a parking space that you were waiting for a person to back out of, or someone who parks at the front door of walmart.

I prefer not to fish on the weekends. Less idiots.

What is more fun by having your wife ask "you did go to church with me Sunday, didn't you?", is to have an rented covered boat slip and a rough storm with lot of wind and heavy rain come up and you race to your slip and see a boat (ohio) in it tied with your ropes....and no one claiming the boat.
