I sit on 2 pads to increase my seat height. It gets to a point where it is tippy, so find the happy medium and you'll be fine.
I made a cart for my yak, seems to work pretty good. I also made a riser for the seat. Not sure how well that's going to work. It's comfortable with the 2" foam pad I found but it puts me a good 6" higher in the air. Does anyone think this will be a problem or is it a try it and see situation?

Stability is an individual thing,I personally need seat height for comfort,my kayak is 41" at the beam,so I have some play room.As far as your cart, having built a few out of pcv,may I recommend a couple things? Firstly,be sure to use schedule 40,the extra cost will be worth it in the long run.
Secondly,if at all possible, shorten the two verticals as much as you can.The stability on steeper ground will be noticeable, plus hauling a loaded kayak will put a fair amount of stress on the uprights.Im always looking to improve my set up,so thanks for posting,I hope I can be of some help.
It's 1" sch 40. Good tip on shortening the uprights

Sch 80 for boat rigging
Vertical uprights to fit rear scuppers has been a rule for decades(no strap required)
Keep on going, Rusty! I'm expecting delivery of my new boat sometime next week! I'll have to look at some trailer modifications once I get it to insure I can handle the length! Been doing a lot of "map scouting" all the smaller lakes between me and your location...lol Even have a few "secret" hot spots, working.... I'll be on water within a week of getting the new rig, getting use to it. Then We can schedule up a few others to hit the lakes!
Take care!
