Funbum does some hand lining and has some video's on Youtube. He fishes out of a flat bottom with a mud motor on it not a kayak. He posts some on the Alabama forum and other forums on here.
Does or has anyone here handline out of their yak? Caught my share of crappie this spring so I thought I might go after a big channel cat. Handlining caught my attention so I'm looking for tips.

So are you talking of "Jug fishing", Drop lines, Trot-lining sort of stuff? All of those can be done within the limitations of most fishing type kayaks. The one thing that comes in handy for any of them is a "catch stick", or some kayak double paddles come with a "hook" built in to one of the blades. I'm talking something you would use to "snag" the line, get control of your boat and maybe to aid in hoisting a larger fish without the need to be reaching and grabbing --- both could cause you to tip or fall off some boats (i.e, sit-on-tops).
If you really want some excitement though, join my for fishing channel cats on fly rod, while kayaking...LOL Quite the rodeo.
I'm thinking of the spool of line, weight and hook

Lmao. I actually spent a night on 8 Mile in a semi loaded with aluminum. Didn't sleep much that night.
