    Default My throw around boat.

I've been threatening since I got back to Florida that I needed a throw around boat for the smaller waters that surround me. Last one I had was about a dozen years back and it was a 12' jon with a 32" floor. I made a dolly and stripped the outboard off and off we went. A friend lives in Deltona and he and I used to fish "Lake No Name" for a few hours at a time when we could and had some outstanding days, mostly chasing green fish but some Crappie too. The down side was about 75 yards downhill to the water and no ramp so I made a dolly. Downhill wasn't bad but back uphill was a bear with about 4 rest stops along the way. I promised him this time I would make it as easy as possible to go chase those fish again.

I started sniffing around Craigslist for something to get the job done with little or no money out of pocket. i had a Ruger 10-22 that sat in the safe as I no longer can step out the back door and play as I did in TN. Found a 15' Grumman aluminum canoe that I believe to be 60's vintage without a dent and the feller was willing to trade. Cool, that part done. Now to tote it around. No gutters on the pickup and the rise of the nose and tail made roof racks difficult to find some that covered the bases. I made it's first trip with it stuck in the back of the PU but just didn't like it. Safe but just didn't work for me. I put a TM mount on when I got home from scrap material I had laying around. 1/4" aluminum and some oak and all thread and i was set. The wife and I were cruising the laptops around a week ago and she found a trailer on Facebook, which I'm not on. Cheap. I had her tell him I'd take it and picked it up the next day. Tire and tongue issues needed to be fixed but overall a perfect fit to my needs. No plans on going more than 20 miles with it. Put a notice in CDC classified and my friend and neighbor Huntinslabs had 2 wheels that fit he wasn't using, and a fella at work fixed the tongue for a 12 pack, and scrap wood replaced the bunks. A little time and effort put it all together and short of the legal stuff I'm set. Here's a few pics I took after I was done. I'm looking forward to the trip back to No Name. Thanks for looking.
