    Do I need to register my new kayak with Wildlife and Fisheries like a regualar boat?

    Most states, not unless you put a motor on it (electric or gas). Ohio is one that requires registration for non-power boats. PA requires it only if you use state park ramps. Not sure about LA.

    I checked the ldwf website. Must have a motor to register.

    Illinois has some kind of registration sticker for non-engine powered watercraft I believe. Not the same as registration for a boat though. Seem odd to me.

    It's all about the revenue. If it moves... tax it... it it's fun tax it... etc etc etc.
