    Default Talk batteries with me

So I finally got a depth finder for my kayak. Now I'm posed with needing a battery. Do I actually need a high dollar battery specificaly for kayak electronics? Or would something as an ATV, motercycle, or power wheels battery work for running the depth finder and a few LED lights?
    Thanks!

A lot of people use those small batteries for their depth finder.

It is important to know the current draw of you FF with backlight on... If you are using something like a HB Piranha or Lowrance X4 or X5 series, you would probably OK with a 12v 7 - 9 Amp Hour battery. You can usually pick one up for $30 or less.

you can even get nice batteries from ebay, I run a 12v 10 amp + a small 4.5v 4amp because with my FF i get a better signal this way. A nice SLA(sealed battery) is good.. a car battery would be too heavy. Just look at the specs of the FF and see the current draw rating and add that the current raw of any other electronics you'll be running ,then multiple by the amount of hours you'd like the battery to last and you could get an rough idea of the amp/hr rating you'd need. Just remember to charge them properly so they last longer and discharge appropriately.

I use a 12v deer feeder battery from Academy sports in a WM watertight box on a Low Elite 4 gps/2d. Last 8 hrs before needing a charge.

What he said. I use a Humminbird 899 which draws 780 mA. The following battery will give me more than 8 hours on the water. I have used this one for 6 months almost daily and charge it every time I get off the water. It has held up well. WKA12-8F2 Werker Battery 12V Werker SLA Sealed Lead Acid Battery | HOOK 1

I run a Eagle Fisheasy 350C on my float tube The cheap 12V 7A batteries will last a day or 2. I try to recharge every time I use it with a shop charger set on 3a and the batteries have been in use a couple years.

This is what I used on my yak until I sold it. Kept the battery so now I can use the Hbird at the work bench. Best price on the web.
