Geary SFL/New TM Report 5/30
I was cruising around here on Friday, trying to figure out where I was going to try out the new MK Powerdrive V2 I installed last week.
A forum search drummed up a couple of good posts about Geary, so the plan was set. A good friend of mine who I haven't fished with in years took me up on the offer to go and we rolled out around 7am Saturday. We made a quick stop in Newton to get him a fishing license and as I sat in the truck, I wondered about the wind.
We got up the road and arrived at the lake around 8:30. The shallows around the ramp end of the lake were pretty muddy, so we headed toward the dam. Being the first time for me on this lake and my first time with the new trolling motor, I figured to try to stay out of the wind for a bit. We long lined Road Runners for the whole day, catching fish around 13 feet deep over 20- 30 feet of water.
The new motor is a blessing over the old cable steer Motor Guide I've had for several years. I was blown away at how easy it maintained specific speeds and direction! It is a lot easier to follow the GPS tracks on the HB Helix5 with this motor too. The electronic steering is super responsive and when barely tapping the foot control, it makes micro adjustments for correcting a path very easy. How did I ever fish without one of these in the past LOL?!!
Over all, we had a great day on the water. We ended up keeping 25 crappies, between 9 and 13 inches, and 6 chunky bluegills and made a huge deposit into the friendship memories bank. (Sorry for the only fish-ice- picture)

Truth is, he had the upper hand on fish caught, but I don't like to keep score..... Unless I'm up!! Hahaha!

So far, I love it! It's the only "high tech sonar" I've had. I'm used to fishing with a pirahna max.
