Nice job this is one my regulars. There are some bigger ones in there just can be hard to find them. Saw a few 15 inchers caught from there this spring. There is some hawg largemouth in there as well!
Went out to Bennington (Ottawa State Fishing Lake) to troll for saugeye. That didn't pan out so I thought "Hey, I've got my ultra light gear in here, I'm gonna anchor next to a brush pile and see if I can catch a crappie". Never really tried it before, so rigged up the UL ugly stick and threw in a jig. I also suck(ed) at vertical jigging, so I knew this might frustrate me more than anything.
To my surprise on the third drop THUMP crappie! Between my dad and I we hauled in about a dozen within 45 minutes. They were hitting on grubs, octopus grubs, tubes, pretty much anything and any color. And only lost about 5 jigs lol
Only problem was they were all dinks. Biggest one was about 6". At least now I'm motivated about finding some more brush piles and trying it again!

Nice job
Nice little lake, keep after them. Brushpiles on the damn.
The lake has changed, ex: water quality, habitat, predation, crappie numbers are the lowest that I can recall. Time will tell.
All lakes raise a foot when I step in the boat
I agree, we went out again the other night and caught a bunch of dinks again. Good thing was we found them at about every brushpile we tried, just nothing more than 6".
Seems like the saugeye have gotten much bigger and more numerous while crappie seem to be struggling. Maybe there's some correlation there. Can't say I'm disappointed that I caught a ton of eyes earlier this year, but would be nice to have a good crappie lake really close to
