Well, I weigh 2x as much as you I'll bet, and heres some things I know after 25 yrs. If you can get on it, you can fish it. Ice melts way faster by the bank, the edge was open yesterday where I fished. White pearly or toothpaste looking ice is generally where you'll go through, to many freeze-thaw cycles or air entrapment from wind. Ice strength can be tested by pilot holes, if when standing or cutting your holes water comes out the top, its weak. Now is NOT the time to venture into unknowns, if it was good before its probably good now. Clear, dark ice generally stays tight enough for a long time, usually the wind blows the main sheet around breaking it apart. I saw a guy at Wilson fishing the ONLY chunk of ice around, it was about 35 yards wide and 75 yards long and 2" thick. He used a flat bottom boat to get on it. I've used waders to get to the edge so I could climb on it. Its funny how at first ice we're all kinda skitish, but after a while we're either "pros" or very complacent.
All lakes raise a foot when I step in the boat
