Default Need to find a new lake to fish!!

Just a little venting here as I need to let off some steam. As everyone knows I guide on El Dorado Lake and I took off the last month for relaxation and to actually catch some fish myself. I have been fishing out of my friends boats and have really enjoyed myself. We have fun fishing for crappie, wipers and walleye. Three of us have found a new way of catching wipers and walleye on El Dorado lake and have been very successful during the warmer days of summer. Preserved our new methods to ourselves and now a few others have caught on. There are areas we fish for them and now we are being ran out by others. Some of them are so bold, they will sit on your marker buoy or run over it. Heck, they might even pick it up.

Got tired of the community fishing, so a friend and I went out in his boat, found another spot where no one would ever fish and stumbled into a 1.5 hour fish slaughter. Wipers had the shad on top and we had a blast. Went back out last night in my boat to try again. Called a friend and asked them if they wanted to fish in the area with us. They came in and we were chasing the fish with the big motor as the schools were scattered more than the previous night. As the evening went on, here comes this ranger boat and sat on a point watching us for about ten minutes or so. The next thing I remember this jack@$$ came flying in and started chasing fish. Yes, the same guy that runs over your marker buoy and pushes you out. We stayed there for a little while longer but the chase was over for us and our friends, as the ranger boat jack@$$ messed up everything we had going.

We went after crappie and our friends went elsewhere chasing walleye. I truly hope the ranger boat had a blast and continues fishing that spot for several weeks. When the fish are gone, come find us and you will have you a new spot to fish.

    Find fish for your pleasure,
    Shane

By the way, we caught a lot of crappie in a short time in brush 6-10 FOW.

Sorry to hear that. I had a similar thing happen at El Dorado about a month ago. We found a ledge where we were catching smallmouth trolling cranks. We boated fish (some nice ones) on 5 consective passes. Then this guy comes in as we are turning around for another pass and parks right in the middle of our path and starts catching fish. He had been across the cove for awhile and decided he wanted to fish our spot I guess. I had my parents in the boat with me so I didn't let the guy know what I really thought of him. Unfortunately I haven't had much luck at Eldo since early spring. I was finally able to find a few fish and this happened. I haven't been back since. Definately leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Oh yeah, he was in a Ranger also.

Pictures and boat numbers of the inconsiderate would certainly be appropriate here IMHO.

From experience I can tell you there will be some on here chiming in here saying you have the wrong attitude on this. These inconsiderate slobs aren't looking for fish they are firstly looking for fishermen.

You just need to get a metal push bumper on the front of that Triton...it would have worked real nice last night. And yeah, the walleye ended up cooperating better than those goofy wipers last night anyhow...maybe it was a blessing in disguise that he came boiling in.

Had something similar happen at CCL last June. I was the only boat on the lake and just slaying walleye. Boat #2 shows up and starts trolling south of me. I keep drifting the same areas and soon they are trolling around my marker buoys. Real close. They end up not catching any and I was still double polling walleye. Started making a huge production every time I hooked up. Anymore I would rather catch white bass than almost anything else.

On Clinton you throw out a marker buoy and you will have 5-6 boats on you in an half of hour. I love the solitude when I am fishing and if I wanted to fish in a crowd I would go to Bennet Springs. I never throw out a buoy anymore unless I am the only one on the lake. Now I try to go out on the real windy days when most people stay at home.

Your right, the fish will gone, wipers and walleye can be there one day and gone the next.

I’ve been in the same situation where people wanted to fish the same area, troll perpendicular to you, sit on your marker, or buddy up to you without saying a word. But I’ve also been approached by people who ask nicely if they can fish the same area, and more often than not end up having a good conversation with them. But if someone’s going to be a jerk about it and not respect your space or the fishing area it can be very irritating and frustrating. There are a lot of good people on the water but some can ruin the fun of fishing in a hurry.

It’s so much more rewarding to find your own fish. I really have to force myself to not go spot checking every fishing trip, but just to put my head down and fish new water. I’m still milking areas for wipers and walleye that I’ve found years ago that no one else ever fishes.

Except for the good bite and only one boat part, sounds like a pretty normal day on Hillsdale Lake.
