Cap Dan, sorry I can't help ya, all my electronics are 10yrs old or older. Someone will jump in amd be able to help ya.
The issues that I have had with my new Elite-7HDI have all been fixed except for the alert volume.
One of the features of the Elite-7HDI that I use is the shallow water alert so if I get in water 4' or under it sounds off.
I have the volume set on 10, the highest setting possible, but the alert can not be heard even without the gas motor running.
I returned the unit to Bass Pro and exchanged it after the Lowrance tech told me the speaker must be faulty.
The replacement Elite-7HDI has the same volume issue.
I called Bass pro and had them turn the display unit volume up to 10. He said they could not hear the alerts over the noise of the nearby water fall and said that is just the way they are.
SO WHAT IS THE USE OF AN ALERT IF YOU CAN NOT HEAR IT.
If someone here owns this locator could you turn your volume up to 10 and let me know how loud it beeps as you increase the volume.
Thanks, Dan

SORRY TO REPORT. When I talked to a supervisor at Lowrance tech help today he suggested I should go to Bass Pro and check the volume on their other models and if they are the same it is " just the way it is". Again why have an alert if you can not hear it?
Not satisfied I called Lowrance back and got a hold of another manager in customer service and asked him why do they have a feature that can not be heard.
He actually cared about my concern and is going to check into possible ways to increase the volume, then call me either way about what he found out.
Lets see what he comes up with.
Make sure 'Hummingbird' enters the conversation when you're talking to Lowrance. As they both make great units, there is always the option to switch over. And they both have similar size, features, etc at similar price points.
Cap Dan... I have an Elite 7HDI a couple of months old. I have the same problem. All the alerts (fish and shallow) are too low a
volume even when on '10' with the motor off. I agree with you on why they even say there is an alarm. My buddy has a Hummingbird
700-something I think (or equivilant to Elite7) and his alarm is too low on volume also. They should have a little 1/8 in. audio out jack
for an external amp'd speaker of some kind or put more amplification on board.
