    zummy-do you think a fresh crop will pop down there this week or do you think it's over soon? brother-in-law and i picked over 20 pounds down there last weekend.

    Picked these yesterday. As you can see there are quite a few in there that were in various stages of drying. There were quite a few that weren't even worth picking. I am pretty sure we are done. Best morel season anybody can remember. Guy I work with takes off 2 weeks to mushroom hunt, and they have been going to Northern KS.

    The mushrooms are thick as thieves up here in Manhattan/Ft. Riley area. The big blondes are all over the place, most the size of a baseball!

    Agree! I am not a great morel hunter, but I found over 30 in about a half hour this morning without leaving my 2 acres. About 20 were in perfect condition. The rest were either drying out or rotting and I ended up tossing them back in the areas they came from. Catch and release... Got a hot grease bath planned for the rest of them tomorrow night!
