Default Several of You Asked for it - How to Fillet a Crappie WITHOUT an Electric Knife

As his Legend grows many of you know that Lucky Livewell can just shake a crappie and fillets will fall out of it. We got him to slow down just enough to vidoe it for you guys since a few of you have asked to see it. Sorry the wind is to strong for any step by step commentary. So here is the video of Lucky at half spead filleting a crappie in 25 seconds with a regular fillet knife.

Thats one way but I fish with a guy who will capture the belly meat as well. His fillets are a work of art.

Must have a extremely sharp knife which most folk cannot keep that sharp. I can do a crappie in 25/30 sec with and elec and have the ribs gone. Nice work with the hand held but for ease and old hands the electric for me is the way to go.

Timed myself with an electric knife, 35-40 seconds thought I would of been faster. That must be a very sharp knife.

What does he use to sharpen his knife? That method is exactly the same as I clean them with an electric knife but I tried it this weekend with my normal fillet knife and could not get through the bones without some work. That must be one sharp knife!

Yes if the knife is razor sharp or better then hey go for it but that is hard to do for most folks. I have one I keep for when no power is available but still like a good Electric Knife.
