When i had a 10lb I drilled out the tip bigger and that helped. Ive been using a 20lb for 10 years now and it does not drip at all.

The past 4 years I have been pouring crappie jigs. 500-1000 a year. So, not much. I have a Lee 10# production pot. It drips when I'm loading my mold. So, after an hour or so I have a mess. More lead splatters than I want. It doesn't matter if I break down the pot and clean. Splatters! So! I'm interested in ideas or pics of setups that contain the lead mess. Thanks!

I ladle and it makes a mess, too. I keep everything inside an aluminum cooking pan. Keeps the lead contained.
Maybe they will bite this one……BuckeyeCrappie LIKED above postSpeckledSlab thanked you for this post
Mine drips too and I take a stubby screwdriver and twist the drop rod back and forth and found that there’s one position that seals fine. The inside the cake pan thing is good also, I’ve used a cookie sheet before.

I can remember reading a bunch of fixes for the Lee pots in some reloading/bullet casters forums in the past.

My 10# pot leaks as well, just have a small candy tin under the spout to catch the drips and still get the mold under. When drips become frequent I use a screwdriver and jiggle the stem and it usually stops for a bit.
I do the same as JungleJim and I try to avoid lesser quality lead. If my lead is of poor quality or has foreign material in it I will use my cast iron pot and melt it down and separate the junk out then pour ingots of clean lead. I have used Lee pots for years and the will drip when they want to. Clean the pour spout once in a while and do like Skeetbum says. Those little drips will sure make ya jump when it hits your wrist.

Getting better ,thanks, 3 heart attacks in a year will mess up a persons play time. I coded out and they brought me back that last time and I decided to listen to the docs.Over 40 years playing with lead and doc says no more. My lead count is so high that they can't use my blood donations any more. They got me on so many drugs now I have to read my little diagram to figure out what is next up. LOL
