    Default Mold questions

I am thinking of getting a few molds to cast some baits for crappie and other panfish, I'm thinking about do-it molds.

    First.
Mold#. Tube-Ta 3217 makes 1/32 and 1/16 oz tube jigs for crappie tubes, uses 4 and 6 hook sizes, no real questions on this one.

    Second.
Mold#. Rhb-8-1632 1020 makes 1/32 and 1/16 round jig heads, again 4-6 hooks or is it better to get the 1019 that will make one of each 1/32 thru 1/2 oz for it I ever need heavier jigs, I really don't use more the 1/4oz but do saltwater fish.

    3rd.
Mold#. Rvb-6-sa 3119. Rev. Barb 1/80 - 1/4oz one each. I do ice fish and small creek fish so the little heads will get used. Any difference with the barb up or down?. Should I be looking at the minnow head style jigs, round have always worked for me.

    Fourth.
Mold#. Phb-5-A 1224 ponyhead, 1/32-3/8oz all very useful to me. What snap rings sizes to use, same with the blades. Or should I be looking at the Randy Howell under spins,

Any info or tips would be appreciated,

I use mostly do-it molds and have been satisfied with them over the years. I have the pony head but one at a time gets old fast. Nice part is I do not do mass pours very often so a dozen or so for me is doable. Jump in and enjoy this part of the hobby. Safety first always.

You can also make tubes using nails, or rods.

On the underspins is there a favorite one, I like the pony casts the swivel in the head over the wire like on the others. Looking at netcraft most molds are out of stock but are backorderable, I'll have to see what the wait would be. Any other places you all like ordering from.

I made my own under spins for larger jigs but not a fan of blakemore ponies. Just don't trip my trigger or catch more fish and just cause more work.

I find I pour my pro mold roundhead in 1/16 & 1/32 the most. 7 at a time adds up quick.

Is that mold without the barb, I would think no barb the bait would fall off to easy but many guys seem to like them.

Yes it is. I use super glue to hold plastics on. Some of my jig molds that have the barb, I find that I usually just cut the barb off to fish plastics or tie.

1/16 oz. round head is my go to jig. If I am fishing plastics I use a production mold that is modified to give me a spring collarName: 001.jpg
