Default Head cement melting head paint?

I'm having trouble with my head cement melting my head paint ? I know I'm not suppose to get it on the head but I can't help but get a little on there. I've had the same problem with waspi head cement and tried clear fingernail polish. What am I doing wrong?

Anything that has acetone in it can discolor some colors , like yellow chart. I use Waspi head cement(water base). I have no trouble with it. You didn't say what kind of paint your using.

I make my own cement for the finish of a chenille jig. I am sure it's all in one of the sticky post at the top of this page. Have been using this for many years. I mix MEK and Clear High Gloss Lacquer about 50/50, I don't actually measure it!

Are you using an enamel for the head finish? If you are and using anything with a solvent base as your head cement you'll have problems.

If you are going to use fingernail polish on the head then use the same brand clear fingernail polish for the thread cement. Example would be Sally Hansen clear and color. This has been used for many years.

I went and got some MEK and clear lacker and mixed it as was told 50/50. Tied up a few and am very pleased so far. Thanks to you and everyone else that has helped with your knowledge
