    Default What do you think?

Got my new vice in today. I got a peak vice and it's night and day from the gander mountain starter kit vice lol. Very easy to operate and operates extremely smooth. I got to playing around with some of the material I have (which isn't much at the moment). With what I have I'm having trouble color coordinating things lol (overwhelmed??? Who knows LoL). Just looking for tips to improve. Keep in mind I've tied maybe 10 jigs in a lifetime at this point less than 15 for sure. So here's a few pictures. I would like ideas how to place Krystal flash instead of directly in the middle of the back. Also I've noticed my tails turn slightly even after making 3 loose loops before cinching it down to crank on it and it's still turning slightly. Any ideas? Also a new pair of scissors I need is a must something to get closer to the hook shank when cutting thread and material of such. Anyhow I know they are not great but I can slowly see improvement. Let me know what you think! Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1437445121.819597.jpg

They will catch fish, but like we talked about just overlap the chenille a little and stop up against the head. However your doing just fine, take your time and they will look way better in just a short time. You will see a big difference in just a couple weeks of tying. I am not talking about tying all day each day either, just tie a few every day and it will come!

If you can explain your comments I'd appreciate it. I'm certain I should make the same improvements.

Brett what skip is talking about is he told me to make the chenille a bit more full and closer to the head. I think I may be able to fix this by giving it an extra wrap or 2 of chenille instead of stopping where I have been stopping. I am going to give it an attempt tonight to see if it works any better any makes it more full on the jig head.

Okay brettw here is what I mean. when I wrap chenille I want to over lap the wraps so that maybe half the width of the chenille over the last wrap. I know it's not an exact thing, but you don't want your wraps to look separate as much as you can. Then make you wraps all the way to the head so it's at least touching if not firm against the head. You don't want it to make a bump there now, just all the way to the head and then finish and the thread should never be seen again!

If you watch this little video of mine, maybe it will help. Mind you I never planned on showing this video, but even though I was not showing it all that well, you can see my wraps are tight together and all the way to the head.

Hope this helps, but if not let me know via PM and I will do something to show this better.
