Nice. They are deadly on gills and crappies, tipped with maggots or waxworms fished under a bobber. That's all some guys use at some local lakes.

Thanks guys! Stump Hunter this one is really not very hard at all so think you will like it. Color all comes from thread and coat with Loon Clear UV Fly Finish. Of course need some dry fly black hackle.

oh and of course Clear Cure Goo will also work fine I am sure!

Thanks Va, the really cool thing is you don't have to deal with epoxy any more since we have the UV Glue out now. Makes things a lot easier to mess with. It takes a bit of time, but is not hard. I can't make them fast, but enjoy tying something that looks like that and is not as hard as a lot of ties.

I used 210 Flat Waxed for the Red and actually I wanted it brighter than the patterns I have seen so used FL Fire Orange in it's place. Then switch mid tie to 140 Black and tied in the hackle, then finished the Black oval and then finish and glue. I saw a guy that did a lot of these and he did the whole tie before adding the hackle in last. Tried that and didn't like it as much. It's kind of a pain to try and keep the hackles out of the glue and you won't, LOL! However you can get off what matters with finger and thumb nails after it's finished. The darn little bumps get kind of hard once the middle is getting close to finished, but other than that and a lot of wraps, not bad at all, just time.
