    Default Custom Jig Head

Ok here we go, this is what I'm wanting and why. I'm wanting a 1/32 #4 hook that's weight forward So my jig will set horizontal. Plus I'm wanting to increase the distance (see pic) Between hook point and eye. Forgive my drawings I'm not a very good at drawing.

May want to look at the chub head from RonDon..Fits both of your criteria ...

Although the way you position your knot will make any jig hang vertical..

Nope. Weight forward yes. The distance thing, NO. Lol It's not the lead placement, it's the hook. If it was just the lead placement, I would order a blank mold and go to the machine shop. I just hate when I hook one in the roof, then that eye that's about a foot long sticking out of the head makes for lost time unhooking a fish. Not to mention missed bites, and bending the point out to increase the gap, no thanks.

I do pull my knot over to get horizontal, and pull it over again, I'm checking it all the time.

Ain't gonna happen with a size 4 hook, even if you could get the size 4 long shanks it still wouldn't give you the distance between the eyelet and hook point.

Just as an example take an Eagle Claw 570 if you go to the Eagle Claw 574 it's only a 1/4" longer, so you're still shorter than you want. I've poured a long time and I've never heard of a 2x long shank hook.

Have you tried using sickle hooks? The do have a wider gap on them. I use them all the time and have no issues hookups. If you dont like sickles... They do make #4 wide gap hooks.

Now as for the weight forward design. It will be nose heavy which is not the best for a horizontal presentation.

Only a suggestion is to start out with a Mustad 9674 4x long shank hand bend and then go with a jig head like pondhopper's head. With a 4x shank you might just get what you need. They are forged flat but have to agree with Fatman don't think that you are going to get were you want with a #4. I use a loop knot with the following head that are balanced and they work very good.
