Well now they are adding flashabou to the hair! Here they are selling a piece of the wide tinsel for same price as the feather. Oh and 4 to 6 inch feathers are starting to be used. I'm sure the salons will push these smaller feathers since they are cheaper and more readily available!

That is why I am going to order a few pounds of 4"-6" Hackle Monday. Maybe even a bit of marabou too. I have a lot already, but will add a few colors I only have some packs of, like Hot Pink, White and maybe an extra Chartreuse. Maybe even look at some Variant colors too. Get while the getting it good. Already have probably 2 pounds of Chartreuse so don't need any of that. I even have 2 shades of Chart marabou as well as a pound of Fl Yellow. While I would prefer a different shade of the FL yellow at least have some of both Hackle and marabou in that.

This came from another forum......don't know enough to respond to him

My understanding that all these feathers come from birds slaughtered for the meat industry and while are most often chicken and turkey feathers, can include pheasant, emu, and some exotics. I'm not so sure fly fishermen are really in danger of permenantly losing their source of feathers. Fly fishing's been around for decades. Hair fashions come and go. It'll work out! If nothing else, we might see bird cages in the back yards of fly fishing enthusiasts

I spoke with too many suppliers about this and they were not buying birds that were for meat, they were buying all the high grade Saddle hackle first and even places like Hareline Dubbin have no saddles and don't know when they may get any more. The literally bought every saddles in this country and all were fly tying hackle.

Here is what got it started even before they were doing the hair extensions...THis lady's earrings was even on the cover of Hareline Dubbin's Catalog for 2010-2011.

Also if you believe this kind of stuff came from birds that were harvested for meat then may I can sell you the golden gate bridge, LOL!.....

One other thing is Denny Conrad doesn't raise birds for meat as all of his are for high grade fly tying and the women burned up his 2100 minutes on his cell phone trying to buy his saddles, but it was a no go for them at his place. So who ever made that post is not telling the truth at all.

It's passed that trendy! It's so hot I am telling you a couple months ago Harline told me they women had bought every long saddle in the country that could be bought. I bought some of what was left and was glad I had bought some of the bright colors ones before that because they were all gone.

So what if they burned up his minutes... He has profitted one way or another from this craze... Even if he won't sell to the stylists, I am sure the fly tyers are banging down his door.

No the craze has done nothing for him as all his stuff sells anyway since it's as good as it gets. Denny doesn't care one bit about what is going on in fashion so all they did was use up his minutes and bug him. He doesn't sell to the ladies. So how did he profit from them? He sells all he has anyway so nothing has changed for him. I don't get your take at all. If he didn't participate in the craze how can you say he profited form it? That is just silly.
