    Default Saving money

I decided to start making my own jigs to try and save some money, I was whining about paying $1.50 to $2.50 per jig. So now have invested about $200 and growing bigger every day, jig molds, lead, vinyl paint, marabou, thread, fly vise, misc. tools. Now I see powder paint is in the cards. Boy it sure is great saving all this money making my own. LOL

LOL, you will never save money with tying your own, but you will have a lot of fun. Also just curious where in heck did you have to pay $2.50 a jig? Wow that is high for crappie jigs. Heck even $1.50 I think is high even though I have a few special jigs that I get that much for, like Roadrunners but that is a special case since I have to buy the heads from Blakemore and 500 per size each order minimum. Also my glow jigs are that much, but that is a very different jig too.

Welcome to the addiction that will only get worse, LOL! We should call it Crack Tying!

Crack tying.... Funny skip... But crack does yield higher profits. Welcome to your game of catch up. I quit trying and just keep buying. I may start a recovery group.

The only bait shop that I could find a round head 1/32 oz jig with pink head and yellow marabou only had 1 left and it was $1.50 nothing at wally world. That is one of the main reasons I decided to start making my own, it is hard to find exactly what you want. Even those Cubby jigs with the plastic tail it is hard to find any place with the pink heads. Pink gets sold out quick up here. I am 85 miles from a Gander Mountain or Bass pro. So I am kind of at the mercy of what ever the local bait shops have for sale. I do buy a lot of stuff online, but most times when I want something I want it now.

Well just so you know the really bad end of this at least from my experience, but some do better since they don't get into all the stuff I do. I started a little over 5 years back selling jig and I have put something like 98% back into materials and it just keeps growing. Already made 4 orders this month (for materials I am talking about), LOL!

Never did an Crack, but I imagine if not on the selling end it will take everything you have. So kind of where I get the Crack comparison, LOL! However I guess it could be any addictive drug.

you save so much money that you laugh all the way to the poor house. The jigs that you made yourself and you catch fish on are priceless. Enjoy the $$ hobby.

The real reason isn't the cost of the jigs, but that I can never find the right size jigs with the color combination's I want. I also know when you catch fish on your own homemade stuff it is twice as good a feeling.

Boy you said a mouth full there as I have both jig and fly materials and just made another order for some cree capes for flies and maybe even a few blue gill jigs. It never ends when you tie both and yes if one sticks to jigs and jig materials it's a lot cheaper.

I don't buy anything from any of the places you mentioned and 95% of all my materials come from wholesale or Mfg. I also can't live with BPS or Cabela's prices.
