Really like both of them colors but favor the 1st jig a little more.
Skip, that orange, in the spring as you said, is a catcher as it imitates the color of crawfish.
Go with what you like that can get the fish to hit.

I might be an oddball, but I like the second one best, the color of the tail is great. I would think a brighter orange head to go with the tail and body of the second jig would be killer.

The first one looks great but I also like Scotts thinking on it.

I was tying a FL Red head/ Black and Fl Yellow Chenille (the one everyone things is Black and Green) wit the Hot Orange tail in marabou then, but the crappie were just hammering it. I know I did like that.
Not exactly this jig since I was using a Roadrunner back the, but these colors was the deal and would again in stained water for sure! Oh and it was not a 1/64 that this jig is it was a 1/32.

Hi Tommy, haven't seen you in a while.
Skip, I haven't ever been a fan of bright orange so I need to fish it in stained water to help me change my mind. I tried a bright orange headed slab daddy and caught a few, but the other colors we used that day did way better. The body and tail on the first one look real good to me. I'm gonna try something like it and will post when it's done. Both look good.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
I was mostly using it when they got on the bank and was just going along with the TM really slow until I found some. I was leaving out maybe 14'-15' of line and swinging it from side to side and when I got it real close to the grass along the bank I would just kind of pull it along. I could see them come up and take it.
Maybe it had something to do with them being so shallow and are use to seeing crawfish when in like that, I just don't know, but I did great on that jig a few years back. Funny thing is every year I have something else to try that I didn't have the year before so have not gone back to it yet, but feel sure I will especially if I find them on the bank again. Boy I can't tell you how much fun it was seeing them come up and take that RR as I pulled it over them and it being shallow enough that I could still see my jig.
I like the looks of both, but have to admit I like the Fl Orange tail better too and use that color for both body on some and tail on others. Have had some do well on the Black/FL Orange/Variant Chart. Is on my favorites page because of a guide Cliff Spindle up on Ray Roberts lake.
