I think I may have too much material on the marabou jigs.

Not bad, better than my first ones. Go to the sticky at the top of the page and check out those ties.Look at the past jig swap pictures.Plenty of really nice ties in there.Pick out a couple and tie them up.It's what the pics are there for,to help others new to tying.Personally, I like shorter tails and bigger bodies because the tail is the smallest part of a baitfish. Tie a variety of tail sizes and let the fish decide what they want. Most important thing is you're having fun.

IMHO a shorter tail will give you a better minnow profile. Give you better hooksets too as all the material is not in the way. Less is more. Just my two cents.

    I like the first photo.

Vastly better than my first attempts.
I think yours would actually catch a fish.
The only way my first one would have caused a death of a fish is if they could laugh.

Not so long from now you will be giving other beginners advice. Thats whats so great about this forum. I really think the guys that listen to the coaching are way ahead on the learning curve. Save one of those jigs and tie the same pattern again in 6 months. Then lay them side by side. I'd be willing to bet you will see a big difference. One that you will like.

Good rule of thumb marabou 1 finger past hook POINT! work's in all weather! concentrate on wrapping Your chenille tight keep wraps close it will make the body fuller Wish My 1st one's looked that good like the chr/blk/red good color.
