Would be interested in a club especially for reasonable prices. From the Quad City area. I know this is for Lake Rathbun, but I believe you would draw more interest if you included three or four stops other mixed in with more local rathbun tournaments. Red rock, saylorville, Coralville Reservoir, or a combination of Mississippi River pools. I believe that would help get your interest up as many residents can only make so many trips to rathbun, but may be able to get to a combination of other events, with the bulk of the tournaments being located at ratbhun for local club members. Message me with any information for the 2012 season in any case. Thanks

Yes tou are correct and that is something we are consideringbut i will admit it will probable bot happen this year for 2012 we are looking at getting organized and a good member base and from there we will get into some of the other things like affiliates and maybe a 3 lake combination but we need to get our base membership up for sponsorships and organization first. For this year we are talking opening up the season the 3rd week in april and having at least 1 tourament a month all the way thru oct or fishing day will always be sundaywe think cause right now we have several members that work on saturdays, as for costs we are looking at membership fees of $20 or $25 per member and $30 or $40 for a family (we have several members that fish with wives and kids. As for tournaments entry fee $40 per team with 80% pay out and $5 big fish 100% pay out as for kind of tournaments we are wanting to have one big tournament we are going to call a 50/50 which means $50 entry fee from team with 100%payout and $50 sponsor entry fee that will go to the club and the sponsor of the winning team to get a big trophie to keep and display for a year and next year to return it and it will go to the winning sponsor. we also want to have a kids tournament where every team will take 1 0r 2 kids on thier boat (kids will sign up from poor familys and single parent homes things like that) and are members will take them out and teach them what it is to fish in a tournament from a boat with real tournament fisherman. anyway these are what we have in line for this year and if all is a success we can carry this to success to exspand in the coming years but we need to get the foundation built this year and your help and others will be greatly needed to get this up and running. I will be posting on here when and where the first meeting will be as soon as I get all the paperwork done and start looking into some local sponsors to get us up and we will disscuss what everyone wants too see happen thanks for your input look forward to hearing from you again Frank 641-895-4911

I'm an old tourny dog and know a few people, so I thought maybe I should speak up about this. Hammann's statement is pretty spot on IMHO. Besides Rathbun, I'd highly reccomend trying to get events on the Mississippi river as soon as you can, specifically for pools 10 - 14. Coralville is another very solid tournament site, and has been left wanting ever since Crappie USA had it's regional there quite a few years ago. Both should produce good levels of interest provided the pay backs are fair, and the word gets out properly beforehand.

Big bites, full baskets, and God's blessings to ya!

    As an after thought:

I might further suggest that the tournament hours run a little longer as well. Cut off times of 3-4 pm have been the most popular over the years.

I'm interested, but Coralville would have to be real early. That place is a mess when it warms up. Let us know when you have a meeting set up.

Agreed! The tourny would have to be before beach season there. There still is very good fishing to be found even after the beach bunnies come out to play, unfortunately politeness on that body of water is about non-existant with much of the local boating crowd.

I'M GLAD THINGS ARE MOVING FORWARD, AL BE IT SLOWLY. I was at Coralville for a Crappie USA tourney one day in May, 2002 and talked to a law officer on a jet ski. I asked him how he delt with this mess and his reply was "Just one drunk at a time." We don't want newcomers or young people of interest to have to experience that. BUT my interest is in Rathbun. What is going on with that side of things. Looking forward to joining but don't have sign up info yet. Keep working on it. GrumpyLoomis
