Went out Saturday this last weekend in a Favorite farm pond.. Caught 3 crappie around 12" water temps 48.. Still too early
Went back out today at Browns Lake in Salix, ia... Skunked.. fished hard with Bobber minnow and tried 2" Shiney grub jigs as well...... 47 water temps..
still a couple of weeks out around here..................

Snyders Bend Report 5/7
We went out on Saturday evening. It would have been noon or so but one tire blew out on my trailer by the sioux city construction and the other developed a big leak. Think someone threw something out in the construction. So we got there late of course. We went all the way back in the reeds on the dock side and had some great fishing!
My buddy was leaving there when we pulled in and he said he caught 50+ largemouth,1 5lber and a bunch of crappie. He didnt keep any crappie or bass. In the short time before dark I caught a bass or crappie on just about every cast. Crazy. Didnt keep any due to the short timeframe.
It was a good end to a very long day.

Wow, sounds like Snyders Bend is the place to go! What was the water temp there?. I've been catching a few here in central Iowa. Caught 15 Saturday morning, and another 9 Sunday morning before leaving for Church. Water temp is about 55.

Browns Lake is ready.. Went today for a couple of hours... 30+ crappie (Dinks) but all in the 2-3' range... water temps are 61 to 64....

Fished 5 island today had good luck was cold and windy but we fished from shore. Fished for about 2 hours and had 42 keepers. Males were just starting to come to the rocks the females we caught were in about 8 feet of water. Should be real good for a couple of weeks.

Wow nice catch. I was thinking about going out this afternoon. Kinda cold and windy though. Just curious... Where is 5 island at? Im a noob for the second time in my life at fishing. My grandpa took us out many a time but I quit when my fishing partner passed away. Now my son is 7 and I cant think of a better thing to teach him. So I started crappie fishing again. Im looking for other good spots around Sioux City. I dont really care about drive time if the fishing is worth it. Anyone have good suggestions?

5 Island is in Emmetsburg. It is well worth the trip. We caught good fish all summer last year. Good luck to you. Your son would have a blast.

Went to snyders today. Water temp between 59 and 61. Only caught two very small bass. Everything else was hiding where I couldnt find em. Wishing for a day like the last time. Oh well.
