Default Anybody been to Monroe yet?

Just wondering if anybody out there had checked out Monroe yet. Was thinking about it, but didn't want to fight the wind we have had recently on that lake.

No, but thought it. Does that count?? :D I am thinking of making a trip in the next month or so, I am interested to see if they are up. My guess is yes, as big a body of water as monroe, they're biting somewhere. I might have to get the spide-rigging rods out and plan a trip the next warm day.
Caught so many fish today my thumb is sore from clicking the counter.

Fished it some on monday caught alot of dinks, only 2 keepers. Cutright side usually warms the fastest and has the earliest action. Fish were down 4-10 ft.

    Good Luck

Indy, were you catching white , black, or what down there? Just wondering what the population is ...or mix between the 2 species.

You will catch alot of both when the water warms a bit but we caught white crappie. When they open up the arm towards crooked creek in april you can stumble across some huge blacks and whites up there in the creek channel. Population seems to be very mixed up that way.

    Good luck

What is the date that the middle fork refuge opens up...is that APR 15 and is it marked off with bouys? Been years since I was down in that area. Do you ever try to launch at crooked creek ramp (belmont / tc steele) above the refuge area before apr 15 or whatever the opening day is? Does anyone out there fish this upper area before the 15th? I know it is a bear to navigate if water is low...usually not a problem this time of year...usually probably fighting muddy water. What about muddy water... can you still catch them?
