Default First Time On The Cat

Made my first trip to Cataract today. Considering the wind and weekend warriors, we did pretty well today. I liked the lake, even though we did not venture around too much of it. I think it would be even better in the Spring and Fall when there is less boat traffic. Fish quality was pretty decent, with some good genetics in some of the fish we caught. Overall I would definitely drive past Patoka and Monroe as we did today to come give it another whirl.Name: crappie4.jpg

Nice report. If I might ask what were you using ? I went up there last week and pulled Crank baits and done good. We caught over a hundred and kept 36 between 10-13 1/2

Roadrunners tipped with minnows, roadrunners tipped with crappie nibbles, and plain hooks on top with minnows. Caught even amounts split between the three ways. That catfish was at least 30 inches long and minimum 15lbs, probably closer to 20. Fought it for almost 10 minutes with a 16' crappie pole and 4lb test line. We kept right around 40, and we caught at least 150. Some of them were biting real short, or we could have caught another 50 easy. Lost the tails off lots of jigs.

I didn't want to hurt his feelings.
