Salted tubes
Went fishing today. Long lined again and couldn't get any keepers early this morning and tried out some new salted tubes on my 1/16 oz RR jigs loaded with crappie nibbles and ended up with 11 keepers after tossing back 30 or so. It was really slow fishing in between rain showers and water temp kept dropping all the way down to 64. I ran identical colors of unsalted on other rods vs the salted and the fish wouldn't hit them. Had a lot of hits and misses as it was slow but all the hits and misses came on the salted with crappie nibbles and they really made the difference. Bass pro carries them in 1.5 and 2" sizes in the hollow tubes if anybody wants to try them. Females still have lots of eggs and the males still wearing their tuxes so it's still on. 5-8' water, speed 0.8 mph, water temp started at 66 and ended up went I quit at 2pm down to 64 and will dip alittle more next couple of days maybe. Wind was out of the NW about 5-10. Colors used chartreuse and chartreuse and black.

Firm believer in scent, I feel it can make or break a trip sometimes.

yup i agree. scent is even more important if the bite is slow.
imagine the bites if the scent trail was even bigger. what if you had a chunk of scented sponge on a keel weight? or even drug a scent rag off the transom? get the fish attention before the lures came in! maybe thats too much. lol
