Thread: Looking for Lake Michigan Perch Info

I'm interested in trying for perch. Are they catchable inside the sea wall or somewhere I can get to with a 16 foot aluminum boat with a 9.9 on it? I have never fished for perch but would like to try it but obviously I can't to most places with my rig.

I have caught them on chartered trips from Michigan city and both times we were very close to shore. The 2nd trip we were just outside the lighthouse on the east side. Sometimes you may have to go further out to find them though, just have to check around the net for reports on where there at. They can be hit and miss though, and scatter often. Usually several days of warm weather and south winds will group them up closer to shore. We used minnows on a crappie rig with 2 hooks and keep the bait right near the bottom. Lot of fun we limited both trips.
