Heard about this at work a day or 2 ago. Interested in how this turns out.
Wife showed me a article from the DNR facebook, a 84 year old man was busted with 43 crappie at the spillway. In the pictures he also has 2 channel cats and 2 very small white bass. From the pics there were a lot of really small crappie. Pics showed a cooler and a 5 gal. bucket, probably kept cooler in the truck to dump the bucket. Bet this guy had being doing this all week. Says they gave the fish to other fisherman and he will have a court date. Good job DNR, I always like hearing about this, since I see so much of it and nothing gets done.

I think it is an excellent job! People will start with the bleeding hearts and the poor old man was just trying to catch fish to feed his family etc. Truth is, he is old enough to know better and most likely been doing that very thing for years and years. We have laws we all must obey. Some of them might not make a whole lot of sense, even to those enforcing them (trust me I have been there). However they are laws none the less. Things like this can kill smaller fisheries in no time at all, especially when taking them out before the spawn.
For those of you that have Facebook and have not like the Indiana DNR pages, please do so. There is the main page, then each District has their own page. I live in District 8 and know several of the officers personally. They do an excellent job of posting things that they get into, arrests made, confiscations, etc. Plus a lot of overall positive and helpful info.
Awsome job DNR! 43 crappie really? Come on man.....the people that follow the rules should pick up the phone when they see stuff like this going on....I will...

That doesn't surprise me at all down there. I just went and checked out the picture and yeah quite a few small ones in there. There are a ton of em that size down there.
DEMENTIA most likely. I have dealt with this with an uncle of mine, its not fun either. To bad.
Fishy Fishy in da brook, come bite on Grandpa's hook!
Last summer when I was in Lenoir TN, two men went to court with under size crappie (10"). They were fined over $2,000. A man that was fishing Talquin was caught with over the limit. He was fined $250. I guess it depends upon the judge. Sad all the way around, to many want their share and more. They feel they are entitled.

Here's the picture. Looks like lots of dinks. Was surprised on the comments how many people have no idea what the daily limit is. One guy posts you can take 25 home and get 25 more the same day. The DNR pointed out he was wrong. I'd like to see them out in force like a check point at the exits. Way to many people exceeding their limit when the bite is hot.
