    Default John Hays Gill Question?

I fish John Hays alot and have had great success with gills and redear until this year. Just can't seem to locate the fish at all this year, I realize the fronts moving through and all the rain has messed thinks up, but I can usually locate the fish. So what am I doing wrong? Mostly fish with slipbobber using red worms, crickets and minnows for crappie. Is it just me? I'm taking out the grandson tomorrow and hope I can put him on a few gills.

I do not know anything about John Hays but I have been doing well this year. Most of my gills have been coming off of points just outside the weedlines in 15 to 20 fow. Been using crickets and very small split shot, 4lb test and tightlining. The lake I fish is very clear and deep. Hope you get on some with the grandson.

Thanks for the info. The grand kids fished about 10-12' and caught a few on red worms just outside the weedlines, but Dad and I had the most success tightlining in 20' feet of water with the red worms as they would not touch a cricket. The kids had a ball being on the water, and they saw some deer, chipmunks, turtles and an eagle at the lake.

Those are some fine pics. That looks like a very nice lake. Good job on getting the kids fishing. Thanks for posting.
