Well,,we got 3.2 inches of rain yesterday again, and since last Sat..about 5-6 inches total in places especially around Patoka. They quit pulling the lake and shut it down due to flooding of streams, creeks and rivers around Patoka..and its now going back up again. Everything running around my area is pure mud.

After this cold and rain,,I figure its going to pop..time to fish even if they do pull it down. Right now lake is rising and I plan on hitting it either Mon, or Tues to long line or pull cranks as well as throw a jig. Lake is still rising, I like the high water fishing myself.

Just got back in from Patoka. Water temp was 65-66. Found some fish off the banks. Should get better by next week end.

I found pretty much the same temps on Saturday. Wind was blowing harder than the weatherman said. Found a few trolling in about 12-15 ft in the walls area. Water was still pretty muddy in the creeks but clearer towards the main lake. I'm headed out again this Thursday.

Hammered Patoka today,,first hit Painter Creek, at 7:30am, which looked awesome, and spent 2.5 hrs trolling bandits and long lining jigs with various colors of tubes loaded with nibbles,,1 dink male crappie, 1-12" striper, and 1 dink yellow bass..water temp was 65 to 67 by the time I pulled up and moved to Walls..launched there,,it was pretty muddy and water temp was kept getting colder the farther up I went all the way down to 66 again..so moved back down below Walls and had 71.4 for max temp I found. I threw a lot of diff baits and colors at areas I always connected on fish and nada on anything,,then started long lining RR's with greenblack and finally yellow/white worked good also. I ended up catching 20 dinks total,,no keepers. When I jig fished I hit all the standing timber, fished the banks, rocks, weed lines, drop offs, creek channels, you name it. I have to say,,never seen Patoka this troublesome for 8.5 hrs of fishing. All crappies caught were small males, and black,,,awesome looking. Water below Walls, cleaned up and was stained then much clearer the closer to Osborne you got. Saw a few other fishermen,,but they weren't ccatching nothing to speak of,,not even any lg. mouth bass for those that were chasing them as I chatted with a few when they came over to see what I was catching. One idiot was shooting a pistol out of a Ranger Boat couple of different places he was fishing around Walls..I never did figure that out or what he was shooting at. Will try it again later this week and see how it goes.

For the guys that were Turkey Hunting Patoka,,,heard a Tom gobble at Painter Creek in the morning,,and at noon,,heard another one gobble above Walls..figure that one out too. All this spring, fishing Patoka I didn't hear a bird gobble one time till today.

Thinking about trying it tomorrow. It has been a tough year on Patoka so far. Thursday looks like a strip pit gill day.

They can't stay turned off forever, and have to spawn at some point. You all keep plugging away, you are bound to find them sooner or later.
