The fishing there is decent. I fished there a few times early this year, when the water was still in the 50's and did OK. The nearest bait shop to my knowledge, is Tollivers off Delaney-Millport Rd, a little south of the park. I hope you like crowds, that place gets way too many people IMO. Also this time of year the lake gets over ran with vegitation, almost making some parts unfishable.

    Thanks Locator.

We are renting one of the new cabins (test) to see if we like it better than a tent. I can see the cabin has it's advantage in the hot months because of the air cond. I was hoping the crowds would be less during the week. Oh well, if it doesn't work out I'll use the tent at Hardin Ridge and fish Monroe.

    Thanks again

You may want to double check that whole AC thing. If they are anything like the cabins built at all the DNR properties I've seen, they are bare bones, nothing inside (no AC) you'll aso need something to sleep on, the beds are wood.

Been a few yrs since I've been down there...and haven't been in a hurry since they drained and restocked. Lake is fertile though, and recovers quickly and it helps there is a fish hatchery there, lol. The weeds are a good thing for the gills and ears IMO. There are 2-3 fish attractors in the lake (jig confiscators), if you can find them. I am guessing you may still find them on the nest. Let us know how you do .

They have a small unit against 1 wall that is probably a heat pump of some type. We checked starve hollow and delaney creek out a few weeks ago. I remember seeing the beds, just frames nothing else. I suppose it beats the ground in a storm.

HDD - I'll post here how we did next wed or thur.

    UPDATED:

Starve Hollow is a family oriented place. The camping areas are nice as are the cabins. The fishing is (IMO) for families and not for those looking for hand sized gills. We caught fish, just nothing I wanted to clean. We used minnows, crickets, crawlers, bee moths and an assortment of jigs. But caught nothing of any size.

HHD - we found evidence of gill beds but they were empty. The locals said there are big ones in there, but I can't verify that. All in all a nice place, but next time will be at Monroe and Hardin Ridge to camp.
