Thanks for update let me know if you make it to salamonie. Only made it once last year and i was shocked at how low she was. I could not fish any of my spots as they where on dry land. Dont sound like that will be issue this year.
Bite has been getting better every day since last friday up the river. The key is to find the edges of slack water and pick up a couple and move to another spot. Mostly black crappie right now but give it a few more days and the white crappie will show up. Another bigger key is to fish the area of the river closest to but not in the back waters of the lake. Tonight that area was about a mile or so down stream from troyers bridge or a mile or so up stream from hogs back if your familiar with that spot. If we don't get too much rain and lake continues drop hogs back will be good by end of weekend. Also for those that like white bass action, they are running well now in same areas as the crappie. You won't get many up the river, stay just above where river starts to backup and you'll get bunches. Caught at least 20 fishing for crappie tonight. I'll try to post again on fri or sat. May try salamonie saturday also,up river. Good luck.

I was over at Missy today too, first time out this season. I fished below the dam though in the spillway. Caught about 10 crappie and 2 tiny walleye. A pretty slow bite, just picked one up here and there, same kind of deal just fishing the slack water near the banks and the mouth of a creek. Not a terrible day though for my first trip out. Can't wait for the lake to clear up and stabilize so i can start fishing my spots in there. Just about stepped on 2 snakes as well, think this is the earliest i have ever ran into one of them damn things.
I have always heard that this river wasnt a place to take fish from. What do you guys that fish there think? Is it safe to eat from?
Been eating fish out of there my whole life. Maybe that is my problem. The fish that come from the Mississinewa are fine to eat and also very tasty.
Bet this cold front shuts off the biteLow of 17* sat. night, highs only in low 40's rest of week. A good week of 55*-65* would really get things going.
I've been using tube jigs under bobber,15" or so. This cold front might slow bite down alittle but i'm sure if you find the right water you'll still catch a few. I think there positioning for the spawn which means the're close to the river. Thats based on my 40yrs of fishing the miss, it's always been the same. Cold or high/low water, this time of year there going to run the river. As long as my eyelets don't freeze i'll be fishing them up the river.
Thanks for report big r been in tn. all week cant wait to get home and fish.:D
