Nice report cevans. Thanks for sharing. Patoka is an interesting lake. What ....there must be a million trees in that place? Do you fish for structure, or try to find the shad? I've tried a few times down there the last few yrs in early spring but always come back with tail tucked between my legs. Last time there, I ran into a guy above Walls who said you should have been here 3 days ago, lol. Certain weather days are just made for fishing , others are not. To deal with that wind yesterday, was like being a log tossed around inside a toilet bowl. 35 mph gusts some times. The causeways on 145 and at south lick fork both act to slow down the mud flow...so if looking for clearer water , fish below those areas. Check out those north bays/banks to find that warmer water. I was at a small lake yesterday that was running 45-46 deg. Some north coves were all the way to 50 deg. I think things may settle down a little this week...and a little sun on that muddy water should get things cooking.

I went on Saturday launched from Walls ramp caught 15 fish ranging from 14’ to 4’ of water. Started jig fishing and moved to spider-rigging, only caught 2 fish spider-rigging . Also flipped floats with jigs and have had great success in pass with this. Water temp was 45-50, muddy in river and same as all other reports clear in main lake. Just a little wind …lol thought I was on Lake Michigan at times. I think I know why everyone stayed at home. It was just nice to get out !!!!! Most fish ( I know not many) came on ledges just off creek channel 14’ to ledge 8’. Fish where suspended between drops and where caught 6-8’ in 10’ of water. Southern Pro Black/Chart. Tube & 11’ BnM Rod. Was using 1/8th oz. head in wind tried 1/16 no luck…. Hope this helps for up coming weekend. I think Fish will really move into that 8' rang this weekend????
