Has anyone ever modified Jon boat box seats for storage or any other use?
It just seems like wasted space that could be put to use somehow.

Not all boats have the foam. It is just there to keep the boat from sinking to the bottom in the event that it fills up with water. Kind of practical on big bodies of water where if something happens, you can hold onto your vessel until help arrives. Just keep in mind what kind of water you are using it in and if you feel the "safety" of the foam is worth the lost storage space. Just my 2 cents.

That's a fact, I did a mod on my old Lowe 1436 a couple of years ago via ideas taken from there. My boat did have a livewell in the center seat, I say did because it now houses 2 batteries and little side storage areas. I been paying with the idea of cutting a rectangular opening under the rear bench, cutting a hunk of the foam out, put in a 1/4" piece of plywood for a bottom, and making a door for it from something light and a piano hinge. Say 24" long by 6" high. Ought to be pretty good tackle storage and handy to get to.
Possibilities are endless and limited only by imagination and expertise. In my case the latter is the hold-up.
fellas, would that be tinboats.net?

I've taken the middle seat out of several jon boat(6) and put a live well facing length wise instead of width wise. The foam is not a big deal for me. as most of the lakes I fish are not over 8 feet in the deepest . and I'm fishing not the deepest most of the time, and remember to use your PFD which should be enough . and ofcourse you get that extra walking room for those of us that are clumesy.. Me for should
sorry rico............yes tinboats.net..
