    Default Chevy Trailblazer

Any of you guys pull with one. I recently blew the motor in my old truck, and rather than put one back in, the boss said we needed more room for the kidos. We bought a Trailblazer with third row seating (seems like a glorified minivan to me) but this pulls nothing like my truck did. My boat is not heavy all alum. 16'. Never even new I was pulling it before, but now I feel everything. Don't know if this is normal, but doesn't seem right to me. Anybody have any advice?

Locator, I have a 03 Trailblazier, has the 4.2 six cyl. I haven't pulled real far, like hundreds of miles but I haven't had any trouble at all. You do feel more with it than you do a truck but mine handled just fine. I have a friend of mine that is a mechanic for 40 years and he said have at it. A friend of his pulls a bass boat to Florida every year with his. I have a 18 foot lowe deep-v myself. I love our trailblazier but I hate the gas mileage.

I know what you mean, I have the same motor, and gas is killing me. I would think it would get better mileage than it does. I really dont have any problems pulling the boat, I just have always pulled with a truck, and its a world of difference.

I pull my 18ft bass boat with a Jeep Grand Cher., and I use to pull it with a truck, so I know what you are talking about (big difference in the pull and sound). I really think it's because in a truck the back axle is outside and you don't hear anything, but when your in a Trailblazer or Jeep the back axle is just behind the back seat, so you hear and feel everything. That's what I chalked it up to, but I don't have any science behind my theory. It does suck the gas, I know that.

I used to have a 2000 Blazer with the v6 and used it to pull my 14' Bayliner run-about never had a problem with it. Now I have a '05 Colorado with a 5 cyl. in it and pull a 17' Crappie Master with it and no problems there either. Like others said tho' I would like better MGP, but that ain't going to happen pulling a boat.

I pull a 17.5 tracker with a 98 Jeep Cherokee Classic, straight 6 cyl. with no problem. Yes, you hear and feel everything but no problems ever.

We have a 05 TR. Bl. Extended, has a inline 6 cyl.. It has plenty low end torque but can tell the difference between the suburbans we had before at high speeds. My wife drives all the time pulling 17' wide deep-V, and she runs 75 all the time and scares the hell out of me. Mileage pulling boat is the same as the suburban 5.7 was, 15mpg.
Over 60,000 miles so far with no problems. Keeping my fingers crossed for the tranny.
She loves the size of this vehicle but they don't make the extended anymore so I don't know what will be next. I'm afraid the short one won't hold all the fish we catch. lol

I can ditto here... used to pull with truck, now pulling a very heavy older Ranger boat with a Jeep Grand Cherokee... and I hear everything.

I could use better weight distribution...got 3 heavy batteries and 18 gal fuel tank right in the back. Seems to make my tongue a little light I believe. Been thinking about bolting some extra weight to my trailer tongue.

And as for the Reese style hitch... I used to pull with bumper mounted ball on the truck...now using the Reese style hitch on the Jeep...but seem to have a lot of slop in the tow bar (bought from wally world).... and have resorted to shimming with flashing. Can you find bars that fit the jeep GC better with less slop? Do you guys run into the same problem.... and your solution?
