    Question where to fish?? carbondale

I want to catch some fish. I have 14 foot jon boat with 25 horse and trolling motor. I want to go sometime in the next week or so. Where should I put in Devil's Kitchen? Little Grassy? Crab Orchard? Any other ideas? I fish crappie, blue gill, catfish. I'm tired of all of the high muddy water.
    Thanks,
    Mary

Any of the 3 mentioned would be a good start. Also Cedar is in that area but haven't heard any reports form there.

One thing to remember is Little Grassy, Devil's Kitchen and Cedar Lake have 10 horse power motor limit's so you will not be able to use your 25 horse motor on them. I would suggest Kinkaid Lake or Crab Orchard Lake. The crappie are biting pretty good at Crab Orchard. Cedar Lake is the prettiest lake in So. Illinois with some monster Striper's but it has the 10 horse limit and they do check motor's. Good luck.

your 25 hp eliminates the possiblility of all but Crab Orchard, Lake of Egypt, and Kinkaid....although you can launch on the 10 hp lakes and use the trolling motor. My choice is always Crab. You can catch gills up to about 7 1/2 inches just about anywhere along the weedlines or rocks. Or catch crappie under the bridges under hwy 13. Also, if you want something close you might launch that boat into the old carbondale resevoir at evergreen terrace just south of the arena parking lot if the wind isnt blowing much. You can get around it with your trolling motor easily. Lots of fish in it. The panfish are kinda small in general but it has BIG bass which is not really a very well known fact.
